Why it Feels Like Something Isn’t Quite Right with the Stock Market

US stocks are still in a bull market. Large parts of the stock market are down significantly since June. Last Friday, Bloomberg reported that “roughly half the biggest stocks are mired in corrections, down 10 percent or more from their one-year high.” The S&P 500 is now up 210% from its 2009 low, and is up 2.1% this year. How can the stock market be up when so many stocks are down?

Gold Prices Actually RISE After Interest Rates are Hiked

Conventional wisdom says that rising rates are bad for gold prices. HSBC’s Global Research team found that gold prices have actually risen the last four times rate hikes began. History shows that gold prices also fall leading into a rate hike and generally rise, though sometimes with a lag, after the first rate hike.

Are Capital Inflows Propping Up U.S. Markets?

Nobody really believes the official narrative that the “recovery” is powering the remarkable strength of U.S. stocks, bonds & real estate. While capital inflows into U.S. stocks are difficult to monitor, put various factors together & it seems likely that significant capital inflows are helping prop up asset valuations in the U.S.
